What to expect during Dry Needling

  • Initial Consultation.

During an initial consultation for dry needling, you'll typically discuss your medical history, current pain or discomfort, and treatment goals. We will then explain how dry needling works and what the procedure entails. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and address any concerns before proceeding. The consultation ensures the treatment is safe and tailored to your specific needs.

  • Treatment.

During a dry needling treatment, needles are inserted into specific trigger points or tight muscle areas to relieve tension and pain. You may feel a brief, sharp sensation, however, this is a normal reaction and indicates that the treatment is targeting the right area. The needles are typically left in place for a few minutes while the muscles relax. The experience is generally not painful and more often than not, provides pain relief.

  • Post Treatment.

It is rare to feel discomfort post dry needling.

It's important to stay hydrated, rest, and avoid strenuous activities to aid recovery. Some people find that their muscles feel more relaxed, and their range of motion improves after the session.
